Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo’s streaming platform, Weezify

February 2, 2022

Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo built a streaming platform to host thousands of Weezer demos! If you took part in Cuomo’s ‘web programming class’ in 2020, these are the tracks he released then.

Cuomo says, “I made this app myself. It took me all of 2021 to make.”

This streaming service will go back PRE-Weezer, up until 2017’s Pacific Daydream album. And yup, you guess it. The service is called Weezify. You can get it on the Apple Store and through Google Play.

The description says, “A Spotify-like player for all of Rivers Cuomo’s demos (1975 – 2017). Close to 3,500 demos. Follow curated playlists. Create playlists of your favourites. I made this app myself. It took me all of 2021 to make. I hope you enjoy it.”

Beyond the apps, Weezer has been working on a four album project called ‘Seasons’. You’ll be able to pick up the albums on the first day of every season in 2022. Each album will be its own unique style. Cool idea, right?

While interview on Good Morning America, Cuomo said: “Spring is kind of like happy chill. And then we move through to dance rock, like a Strokes-style album for the fall.”

And, assuming the pandemic doesn’t shut shit down, Weezer are touring the Hella Mega Tour in June ’22 with Green Day and Fall Out Boy.
