March 27, 2017

Last Thursday (March 23rd) Game Of Thrones : A Live Experience made an appearance at The Forum in Los Angeles. They were joined by System Of A Down’s lead singer Serj Tankian, as he performed the lead vocals for the unofficial theme song for the Lannisters, The Rains Of Castamere.

Live Nation partnered with HBO Global to bring the Game Of Thrones Live Concert Experience to life. Ramin Djawadi, GoT’s multiple award winning composer, leads the touring orchestra.

Tankian appeared as a one-off on the tour, teasing his involvement early in the week in the tweet below.

The Rains Of Castamere has previously been performed by Sigur Rós, for the show’s Season Four episode “The Lion And The Rose,” as well as The National for the GOT Season Two Soundtrack Album.

As for System Of A Down, they’ve announced some European tour dates on top of headlining a few festivals as well. Back in November, SOAD drummer John Dolmayan confirmed that the band has been working on new material and could have as many as 15 album ready tracks.

“There’s a tremendous amount of pressure on us, though, because it’s been 11 years – at least 12 by the time it comes out…This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels” Dolmayan said.
