Watch: INXS ‘Mystify’ Michael Hutchence Documentary Trailer!
As you know, sadly, INXS singer Michael Hutchence took his own life in 1997 at the age of 37. Hutchence’s friend Richard Lowenstein is directing a documentary called “Mystify” about Hutchence – and it’s filled with interviews and tells the story of someone who wanted to be more than a rock star and one who left us too soon.
The documentary is playing in U.S. theaters for one night only, January 7, 2020. Get tickets as of November 8, ’19 here!
Lowenstein met Hutchence in Nice, France, in 1984. Lowenstein would go on to direct sixteen of INXS’ videos, including “Never Tear Us Apart,” “Listen Like Thieves,” “Suicide Blonde” and “New Sensation.”
The documentary is over two hours long and tells Hutchence’s story.
Lowenstein said, “I wanted to take you on an immersive, time-traveling journey back to the ’80s. Instead of pulling the audience back and forth in time, which is what a lot of the rock docs do, I wanted to take you back and keep you there, and travel through time as he grows and ultimately until the end, much like a novel does.”
Tragic story. Loved INXS. I look forward to watching this documentary.
