Watch Grohl Cover Motorhead, Thin Lizzy at Ronnie James Dio Tribute!

May 8, 2019

How could would it have been to be at this year’s “Ride For Ronnie” motorcycle ride and concert tribute to Ronnie James Dio held in Encino, California? Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl played the drums on a couple songs, Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak” and Motörhead’s “Bomber”!

It wasn’t planned that Grohl would make an appearance. Instead, Dave was at a local grocery story when a fan asked him if he was going to the event. Grohl replied, “Now I am.”

“I am here on this beautiful day in Encino [because] everybody loves Ronnie James Dio,” Grohl said at the event. “He was my neighbor actually; we lived down the street from each other. I encourage everybody to come out and support the cause, because it’s a beautiful day with a bunch of beautiful people and we hope to see you next year.”

Ride for Ronnie has been an annual event since 2015 (raise awareness and money for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund). Last year, Ride for Ronnie raised $50,000 for the Dio for Cancer Fund.

Is Dave Grohl the coolest rock musician on the planet? If not, who is?
