Watch First Trailer for Live-Action ‘Lion King’ Remake

November 24, 2018

Well, you’re finally getting a look at the first trailer for the live-action remake of The Lion King. What do you think? Obviously, it’s going to be steep in CGI – it’s not like you’re gonna get an actual monkey holding up a real lion cub at Pride Rock.

James Earl Jones is back as Mufasa. “Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, the sun will set on my time here and will rise as you as the new king.”

We’ve known about this for a bit – Jon Favreau directed the movie. Donald Glover plays Simba, while Beyonce voices Nala. Joining them as cast members is Chiwetel Ejofor as Scar, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon & Pumbaa, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi and John Oliver as Zazu.

There’s been some live-action remakes as of late – The Jungle Book, Alice in WonderlandBeauty and the Beast – Aladdin is coming out in May. And Lion King is in theatres July 19, 2019.

What do you think of the idea of live-action remakes? What’s next? Ratatouille?
