The Weeknd Donated $250,000 to Black Lives Matter
The Weeknd has reportedly donated $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter network.
The network is a “chapter-based national organisation working for the validity of Black life”.
According to “The Fader”, two sources have confirmed the donation from the musician, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
After the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police in July ’16, Tesfaye tweeted: “Enough is enough. it’s time to stand up for this. we can either sit and watch, or do something about it. the time is now. #blacklivesmatter.”
He also tweeted the hashtag “#BLUELIVESMURDER.”
Last week, Tesfaye reportedly donated $50,000 to the University Of Toronto to fund a new Ethiopic Studies program.
