The Distillers drummer injured hand; band cancels tour dates

August 1, 2019

This is nasty. If you are faint of heart, might wanna back turn back. The Distillers had to cancel ALL of their upcoming US tour dates because their drummer Andy Granelli had a bike accident that left his hand pretty messed up. If you’re brave enough to have a look see, it’s posted below.

The band was supposed to tour the States in August but she jumped on her Instagram page to let fans know they weren’t touring due to Granelli’s hand injury.

Hi guys , Andy was in a really bad accident a few days ago that resulted in two very deep gashes ,a broken middle finger and a concussion. He was riding his bike down the street and a woman who was struggling with her toddler inside her car , kicked the car door open and in a split second attempt to avoid it , Andy was badly injured , his right hand taking most of the impact and requiring 40 stitches. This kind of trauma takes time to heal and unfortunately we’ve had to cancel / postpone our upcoming August American tour before reading and Leeds in the UK. The doctor believes Andy will be healed enough in about 3.5 weeks time and that’s why we are going forth with Reading and Leeds. Hope you can understand , it’s disappointing for us to have to cancel and postpone but Andy’s hand is crucial to what he does and what we do. Much love to you all , See you soon , The Distillers xxxx P.S – the following pictures 4,5,6 contain very graphic images of trauma to Andy’s hand and may make some people queasy, please do not scroll through if this is the case.

That’s a pretty brutal looking hand. Ever have a bike accident (or something similar) that left you scarred? What happened. Buddy won’t be drumming for a while, that’s for sure!

The Distillers split in 2006 but have been touring since their reformation in 2018.
