The Cult ‘Under The Midnight Sun’ Album Release Info, Hear Single ‘Give Me Mercy’

July 12, 2022

The Cult’s new album, “Under The Midnight Sun”, was produced by Tom Dalgety (Pixies, Ghost, Royal Blood) and will be released on October 7! The Juan Azulay-directed music video for the lead off single, “Give Me Mercy”, can be seen below!

Singer Ian Astbury said, “I was absolutely enamored with this piece of music Billyhad written, and it perfectly fit these thoughts I’d been having about our culture’s need to move past assumptions of duality. We need new language because words can’t express where we’re going.”

Duffy says: “‘Give Me Mercy’ has all the hallmarks of the new classic Cult to my ears … fresh yet familiar.”

Like most bands, The Cult had to stop touring and recording because of COVID. Astbury said, “When the world stopped, I had this moment to write in real time, to calculate. I was compelled by this vision, this anomaly, this memory, of being under the midnight sun. Tom helped us bring a new musical shape and frequency to our process.”

The Cult recently toured the U.K. with Alice Cooper and will be back on the road, touring North America, as of July 30 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Do you think The Cult will find the same level of success they had in the past with this new album?
