You may remember that in December 2019 The Cult’s singer Ian Astbury told Atlantic City Weekly that they were planning to release new music in 2020: “We’ve got a few pieces lying around in various stages of completion. The intention is to get together in the New Year and take a look at what we’ve got and decide how we are going to go about moving forward. It’s is an essential part of any creative lifeblood.”
We haven’t heard new music from the band since 2016’s “Hidden City” (which was produced by Bob Rock).
The Cult spent much of 2019 touring the 30th anniversary of their “Sonic Temple” album. Hopefully a new album will see them on the road again.
Does The Cult have more gas in the tank? Will a new album breathe life into the band? Personally, I think so.
