Rush to make large donation to Gord Downie Brain Cancer Research Fund

November 30, 2016

Canadian rock icons Rush were presented with the 2017 Allan Slaight Humanitarian Award earlier this year, an accolade that comes with a $40,000 donation to a charity of choice. Rush announced their charity – the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research in Toronto’s Sunnybrook hospital.

Via a statement released by Rush :  “Many Canadian families have been affected either directly or indirectly by this terrible disease. Through Gord’s courageous efforts this cause is now getting the attention it desperately deserves. As a fellow musician and friend, it’s our turn to help support his efforts to fight brain cancer now.”
