Ronnie James Dio’s ‘Rainbow In The Dark’ Autobiography Has a Release Date!

February 19, 2021

There’s finally a release date for Ronnie James Dio’s autobiography! We now know that “Rainbow In The Dark: The Autobiography” will be available as of July 27!

James Dio had been working on his autobiography prior to his death in 2010.

Now, we get to read about his life, in his own words! You’ll read about his rise to one of the biggest rock frontmen of all time; how he started Rainbow, becoming the second singer of Black Sabbath, how he came up with the Devil Horns, his marriage to Wendy, his band Dio… the book starts and ends with stories about Madison Square Garden.

Ronnie wrote the book with longtime friend / music writer Mick Wall.

James Dio’s widow Wendy said, “Everything Ronnie did, lyrics or anything, was always handwritten. He didn’t do anything on the computer. So he would handwrite it and then he’d give it to me and then I’d give it to my assistant, she’d type it up. So that’s how it went and, of course, I’d read it along the way and it’s very, very interesting. It’s just interesting the way his stories are; he was a storyteller. Ronnie was always a storyteller and it’s just great stories.”

Ronnie James Dio tragically passed away of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010. He was 67.

Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this book! What’s your favourite rock autobiography? Sammy Hagar’s “Red” and Keith Richards’ “Life” are both stand outs!
