Production begins on ‘Deadwood’ movie

November 6, 2018

If you’re a fan of the HBO series “Deadwood”, great news! Production on the movie has started!

The series was cancelled in 2006 and it’s taken nearly 12 years for HBO to give the green light to a Deadwood movie.

The movie is set 10 years after the events of season three. A press release says, “Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds are reopened, as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.”

And good news! Much of cast will be back for the movie! Ian McShane (Al Swearengen), Timothy Olyphant (Seth Bullock), Molly Parker (Alma Ellsworth), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), John Hawkes (Sol Star), Anna Gunn (Martha Bullock), Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter), Brad Dourif (Doc Cochran), Robin Weigert (“Calamity” Jane Canary), William Sanderson (E.B. Farnum), Kim Dickens (Joanie Stubbs) and Gerald McRaney (George Hearst) are all aboard!

There’s no word on when the Deadwood movie will be released, although it’s said they’re eye’ing Spring 2019.

Is Deadwood the best Western series all-time? If not, which series gets the nod?
