Pacific Rim 2 wraps up filming

April 3, 2017

More news on another highly anticipated movie sequel as Pacific Rim 2 has officially wrapped up preliminary filming.

Actor John Boyega posted the following image to his Twitter feed to signal the last day of filming. The movie started filming in Australia and wrapped up in China last week.

Boyega will play a new character in the Pacific Rim universe, the son of Idris Elba’s character Stacker Pentecost. Both him and fellow Pacific Rim newbie Scott Eastwood get to play Jaegar pilots, replacing the first movie’s lead Charlie Hunnam. However, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Rinko Kikuchi are all back in their original roles.

Pacific Rim Uprising may have just finished filming, but the release date is still far off- the movie’s scheduled to be coming out  February 23, 2018.
