Michael Stipe Is Working On New Music!
In case you missed it, R.E.M singer Michael Stipe was recently a guest of BBC HARDtalk and has revealed that he’ll be working on new solo music this summer!
While this is great news for fans, it’s not like Stipe has been quiet in recent years; having released a few songs over the years (like ’19’s “Your Capricious Soul” below). But the potential for a new EP or full length LP is quite exciting!
During the interview Stipe said, “Oh, the music is not dying at all, no. I mean I love my voice, I love writing music and composing and arranging. It’s not an easy thing to do, though. I was really pushed when the band were together, but now I’m on my own I have zero representation: I don’t have a contract with anyone, I’m a free agent.”
Stipe added, “I’m working this summer on some new music, and I hope to continue making sound and music a part of my life for the rest of my life. It’s something I find great joy in.”
