Lynyrd Skynyrd Documentary Coming To DVD!
There’s been tragic events that shook the world over the ages. Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the bands to have lived through such an event. At the height of their fame in 1977, a plane crash killed the band’s founder and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant along with Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray. “I’ll Never Forget You: The Last 72 Hours Of Lynyrd Skynyrd” chronicles the story of three survivors: security guard Gene Odom, lead backup singer Leslie Hawkins, and guitar tech Craig Reed.
The documentary features these survivors giving first-hand accounts of life in the band, the 72 hours leading to the crash, the crash and aftermath.
Interviews with four first responders were also captured, filmed at the crash site in Gillsburg, Mississippi. Based on Gene’s book, “I’ll Never Forget You”, this documentary is his journey with the band and having to deal with the lose of a friend.
“I’ll Never Forget You: The Last 72 Hours Of Lynyrd Skynyrd” will be released on DVD on December 13 ’19.
Quite the tragic story. Have always loved the band. I can’t wait to watch!
