Kurt Cobain’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ Guitar Being Auctioned!

May 13, 2020

What is it that billionaire Grant Cardone always says? The biggest waste of money is buying a house? OK. Screw the house and buy something from Julien’s Auctions; they’re selling Kurt Cobain’s guitar from the Nirvana “MTV Unplugged In New York” performance! No kidding. And, they’re expecting it to reach $1M.

The event is taking place on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20, 2020 live in Beverly Hills and online at JuliensAuctions.com.

Cobain played the 1959 Martin D-18E for MTV on November 18, 1993 (about 5 months before his death). As you know, the band ripped through a ton of their hits, like “About A Girl”, “All Apologies”, “Come As You Are” and “Dumb”. They did some covers too; a great version of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World”, The Meat Puppets’ “Lake Of Fire” and Lead Belly’s “Black Girl” renamed “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”.

If you’re lucky (and rich) enough to buy Cobain’s guitar, it comes with its original hard-shell case decorated by Cobain, three baggage claim ticket stubs are attached to the handle and an Alaska Airlines sticker is on the case.

This is cool – the storage compartment of the case has Cobain’s half used pack of Martin guitar strings, three guitar picks, and his suede “stash” bag.

This guitar isn’t the only thing being auctioned. You also have a chance to buy a black custom made and smashed Fender Stratocaster guitar Kurt used while touring “In Utero”, the metallic silver long sleeve button-down shirt worn in the “Heart-Shaped Box” music video and a copy of Nirvana’s 1989 “Bleach” CD cover signed “Kurdt” and inscribed with drawings by Cobain. There’s LOTS more up for auction. Click the link below for more.

You’ll need to pre-register to bid online – JuliensAuctions.com.

What’s the most you’ve spent on rock n’ roll memorabilia?
