Iron Maiden Sue ‘Ion Maiden’ video game
What do you make of this? Any publicity is good publicity? Iron Maiden has filed a hefty lawsuit against the makers of the video game Ion Maiden.
Maiden filed a $2 million lawsuit against developer 3D Realms over their video game Ion Maiden.
The band took aim this past Thursday (May 30) claiming that 3D Realms (makers of Duke Nukem) made “incredibly blatant” trademark infringement naming the game Ion Maiden. The suit alleges that Ion Maiden would cause “confusion among customers.”
A portion of the lawsuit reads, “Defendant’s Ion Maiden name is nearly identical to the Iron Maiden trademark in appearance, sound and overall commercial impression. Defendant also uses the Ion Maiden name to sell merchandise including shirts and mouse pads.”
Do you think Maiden has a case or should they chill?
