Hear The Offspring and 311’s Cover Each Other
Only a few days ’til the launch of The Offspring / 311 co-headlining 29 date tour (starts July 25th in Mountain View, California and wraps September 9th in Wichita, Kansas)! And to help promote the run, the bands have covered each other! Rolling Stone magazine panned both songs – but you can’t teach good taste.
The Offspring covered 311’s 1996 breakthrough “Down.” In a press release Offspring guitarist Noodles said, “We tried to do a Ramones-like version to serve as a companion piece to the Clash-iness of theirs. I don’t know if we did it justice but it sure was fun to play and sing.”
311 went with Offspring’s “Self Esteem”. Rolling Stone said, “… again, it sounds like vocalist Nick Hexum and Doug Martinez are punching out of their weight class.” Check it out below. Do you agree?
Wonder if the bands will play these covers in their live sets? I’d be ‘down’ to see that.
What’s the best cover, all-time?
