Green Day Talk New Album & Tour With Weezer and Fall Out Boy

September 16, 2019

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong recently sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to talk about their new album and their massive arena tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

About their new album, “I knew I wanted to do something different. I’d always loved British mod music from the Sixties, but I wanted to go to where the source was and see if I could put [soul] through the Green Day filter. It was a lot of trial and error, a lot of pulling my fucking hair out.”

Talking about their single “Father Of All Motherfuckers”, “I told my engineer, ‘I might look like a fucking idiot, but bear with me.” The song is the title track from their new album, Father of All . . . due out February 7th 2020.

Bassist Mike Dirnt had this to say, “Billie was pushing himself to get to a newer place. We had to chase that down. Which is par for the course, because nobody digs deeper than Billie.”

Meanwhile, Green Day will be showcasing new material on their Hella Mega Tour, a 2020 stadium tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

Where do you place Green Day in the list of the most influential punk bands of all-time?
