Def Leppard, Crüe, Gn’R, Maiden Among Billboard’s Top-Grossing Tours Of 2022

December 14, 2022

Billboard has released their list of the top-grossing tours of ’22 and the Def Leppard / Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, My Chemical Romance, Iron Maiden tours all made the top 30 of the 12-month period ending on October 31.

Puerto Rican rapper/singer Bad Bunny topped the list, while The Rolling Stones was the highest-ranked rock act, with a combined gross of $179 million over 20 concerts. The Stones sold 950,000 tickets over the 12 months.

Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe’s “The Stadium Tour” clawed its way to #8 on the year, grossing $173 million, selling more than 1.3 million tickets over 35 concerts.

Iron Maiden landed at #26 on the list, grossing $76 million, selling 985,000 tickets over 47 concerts.

By the way, these figures only include gross ticket sales and do not represent an artist’s actual earnings, nor money to pay management, booking agents, promoters, venues, travel, equipment (sound, lights and staging), hired musicians, crew, hotels and buses.

Conversely, these figures also don’t include merchandise sales, which is substantial.
