It only took 18 years to get started on a sequel to Chicken Run. Better late than never!

The original movie starred Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha and followed a group of chickens  as they tried to escape from a Yorkshire poultry farm.

Now, the green light has been given – and a sequel is in the works (and will be directed by Sam Fell; of Flushed Away).

Not much is know about the plot of this sequel – but we do know that it won’t go into production til the studio wraps on Shaun The Sheep 2.

There should be a decent budget for Chicken Run 2 – the movie made $224.8m at the box office!
