Canucks on the move

March 9, 2017

The Vancouver Canucks have a new home on your FM dial. TSN 1040, longtime Canucks broadcasters, broke the news that they have lost broadcasting rights to Rogers Media yesterday.

The news was clarified today (March 9th) by the Canucks organization, who signed a five-year deal with Rogers. Sportsnet will now cover all Vancouver Canucks radio broadcasts on Rogers radio beginning at the start of next season (2017/18).

Sportsnet already has a deal in place with the Canucks, a ten year multimedia deal which covers mobile, online, and Sportsnet TV coverage. On top of that, Rogers has rights to Hockey Night In Canada broadcasts.

Details on where you can hear those Canucks broadcasts are still on the way. Rogers Media currently owns 3 radio stations in the Vancouver market – CKWX (News1130), CKKS-FM (104.9 Kiss Radio) and CJAX-FM (96.9 JACK FM) – and with Canucks rights now, a move to bring Sportsnets flagship radio station, The Fan, seems more than likely.
