YOUTUBE DOESN’T MAKE A PROFIT

YouTube has more than one billion users each month, but it still doesn’t make a profit, according to the Wall Street Journal.

YouTube, which is owned by Google, had revenue of some $4 billion in 2014, up from $3 billion a year earlier, but after paying for content and the equipment to deliver the videos, YouTube’s bottom line is about break-even, the Journal reported.

Those numbers reflect YouTube’s struggle to expand its core audience beyond teens and tweens, and to get them to go directly to the site to look for entertainment, instead of getting there from links or embedded video players that are posted elsewhere.
