The Beatles’ first record contract sells at auction for $93,750
A recording contract signed by The Beatles in 1961 has sold at auction for over $90,000!
New York auction house Heritage Auctions confirmed the sale yesterday (September 19) with an unknown bidder paying $93,750 for the item. It was sold by the estate of German Beatles collector Uwe Blaschke.
The contract was the first ever signed by the band and pre-dates drummer Ringo Starr. Drummer Pete Best signed the contract along with John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison for the release of ‘My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean’. The song was recorded in Hamburg, Germany.
Meanwhile, The Beatles’ first management contract, signed with long-term manager Brian Epstein, is going up for sale at Sotherby’s Rock and Pop auction, and may make as much as $500,000 on September 29th.
