TERMINALLY ILL CO-CREATOR OF ‘THE SIMPSONS’ GIVES HIS FORTUNE AWAY
Sam Simon, co-creator of The Simpsons, has been giving away most of his fortune since being diagnosed with terminal colon cancer back in 2012.
The 59-year-old recently did an interview with NBC News and explained why he has chosen to give the money to many charities that help animals.
Sam said, “I think that my passion for the animals and against animal abuse is based on the knowledge that these creatures who feel and think can’t speak for themselves and they’re dependent on us for that. And so I feel it’s my responsibility to speak for those that can’t speak for themselves.” He has put money toward his Sam Simon Foundation which works to feed families in need and provide service dogs for veterans.
- His fortune is estimated to be around $100 million.
- Sam was given three to six months to live when he was first diagnosed.
