SPACE STATION ASTRONAUTS CAN NOW HAVE ESPRESSO

December 1, 2014

Coffee on the International Space Station has just gotten more sophisticated, with the arrival of a machine that will let the astronauts drink espresso.

Espresso_still_lifeItaly sent astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti to the space station this past week with a specially-designed espresso machine, called ISSpresso, that works in zero-gravity.

It pumps water under high pressure through the machine into a pouch, where it can be sipped through a straw.
