SCOTT WEILAND GRABS FORMER QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE DRUMMER FOR BAND
Ex-Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland and his band The Wildabouts have announced that their new drummer is Joey Castillo, best known for his 12-year stint in Queens Of The Stone Age.
Weiland said that he and Castillo go way back: “I’ve known Joey for a long time, since the early days with STP. He was playing drums in a band called Honeyglaze and they opened up for us on our first tour. He’s an amazing drummer. He just hits so hard and has got a lot of dexterity.”
Weiland has released a new song called “Way She Moves” from his upcoming album, Blaster, which is due out on March 31st.
Weiland told Rolling Stone he wrote the tune about about his wife, photographer Jamie Wachtel, saying “The inspiration, lyrically, is my wife. Pretty simple, really — I love the way she moves and I love the way she talks.”
Weiland added that he thinks “Way She Moves” is a good representation of the Blaster album, explaining, “Every song is its own on a sonic level, but there’s a thread that keeps everything in a cohesive flow. I think it’s one of the better songs on the album, and it’s one of my favorites.”
Weiland and the Wildabouts will begin a U.S. tour on February 22nd in Scottsdale, Arizona.
