Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will be ‘pansexual’
Deadpool director Tim Miller has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds’ anti-hero will be portrayed as “pansexual” – namely, attracted to people of any gender.
Asked if the new movie will present a “hyper-sexualised” version of Deadpool, Miller told Collider: “Pansexual! I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool.”
Meanwhile, Reynolds explained that the film will not shy away from showing the character’s sexual side, saying: “There is some sexuality in this movie for sure. You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’ But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything.”
“We did a photo shoot for an entire day of just different, completely insane things that Deadpool is doing and there’s a lot more to come,” the actor added. “They’ll be slowly released.”
The long-awaited Deadpool movie is set to arrive in cinemas on February 12, 2016.
The film’s official plot synopsis teases: “Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”
