Ron Howard said the only thing holding back a 5th season of Arrested Development is the availability of the cast.

Netflix revived the show for a 4th season in 2013 after a seven-year hiatus, launching 15 brand new episodes simultaneously. Original cast members Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Michael Cera all reprised their roles as members of the Bluth family.

Executive producer Brian Glazer said in April ’15 that he and creator Mitch Hurwitz are planning to make “another 17 episodes” and that fans should expect to see them in Spring 2016.

Arrested Development producer Ron Howard said those episodes are being written but pinning down the whole cast is proving difficult.

“Well, Mitch Hurwitz – the creator of the show – is working with writers now. Netflix is behind it, 20th Century Fox is behind it,” Howard told Good Morning America. “It’s hopeful – what has happened is that the cast has become so freaking in demand and busy,” he added.

“Everyone wants to do it. Fans want it. I would be saddened if we didn’t achieve it. I’m the announcer and the narrator, and I have to get back to that microphone.”
