Queen’s Brian May Spent £10,000 to Fly His Guitar First Class

November 7, 2014

According to The Daily Mirror, Queen’s Brian May spent £10,000 on an extra first-class aeroplane seat for his cherished electric guitar, according to reports.

Word is… May bought an extra first class seat to travel with his guitar next to him on a British Airways flight to Los Angeles because he was afraid it might get damaged.

The guitar, known as The Red Special, was built by May at his father’s workshop 40 years ago and has been with May ever since.

A source close to May said: “There is no way he would have allowed it to be treated like any other piece of luggage. A member of staff and the guitar were bumped up to first class where he had to purchase a seat for it as it couldn’t go in the overhead locker.”

Meanwhile, Queen’s new record “Queen Forever” is out November 10th. The album features three previously unreleased tracks with Freddie Mercury on vocals, including a collaboration with the late Michael Jackson.
