PEI police have interesting punishment for drunk-driving
Sometimes punishment can be subjective. Police in Kensington PEI have come up with what they think is a deterrent for drunk drivers during this holiday season – get caught driving drunk, and you have to listen to Nickelback on the ride back to the station.
Kensington Police Force made the Facebook post to remind drivers that during the holiday season, they want folks to plan safe rides home from their respective Holiday parties. And if you get caught driving drunk, you’ll be getting a ride back to the station – instead of Christmas Carols the police will play a Silver Side Up cassette. Again, punishment is subjective.
Constable Ron Harlan of the Kensington Police Force, speaking to CBC ; “”What we were trying to do is put a little humour into a very serious matter of drinking and driving. What it does is it sparks that conversation, it pushes that idea that everybody knows with a little bit of humour.”
No word on their back-up plan if the driver happens to be listening to Nickelback when they get pulled over.
