NOEL GALLAGHER: I’D RATHER DRINK PETROL THAN LISTEN TO ALEX TURNER

February 4, 2015

Noel Gallagher recently said that he would prefer to “drink petrol straight from the nozzle” than listen to Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner speak.

In a boisterous interview with The Evening Standard, Gallagher derided the entire music industry, saying that “alternative thinking is on the way out. They just don’t make for great copy. Is it any coincidence that all the indie labels got bought up by the major labels and things have started to get boring?”

Gallagher continued, “There doesn’t seem to be any characters anymore. When you have proper characters, the music sort of becomes secondary — it looks after itself. Look at bands like The Smiths and The Jam — all great characters.”

Gallagher recently said he would consider reuniting with Oasis for the right price, admitting, “Nobody has made us an offer . . . As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it’s always a possibility. But only for the money.”

Gallagher’s new band High Flying Birds will release its second album, Chasing Yesterday, on March 2nd.
