Netflix orders fifth season of ‘House Of Cards’ for 2017
Netflix has commissioned a fifth season of House Of Cards to air in 2017.
However, the acclaimed drama’s showrunner Beau Willimon will not be returning for season five and his successor has yet to be announced.
Willimon thanked Netflix and the show’s “incandescent stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright” in a press statement, saying: “After five years and four seasons, it’s time for me to move on to new endeavours, but I’m supremely proud of what we’ve built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team.”
The fourth season of House Of Cards will debut on Netflix on March 4. As with previous seasons, all the new episodes will be released simultaneously, allowing fans to watch at their leisure.
Kevin Spacey will once again be joined by Robin Wright as Frank’s equally scheming wife Claire Underwood, while Scream actress Neve Campbell has joined the cast in a series regular role.
Since premiering in 2013, House Of Cards has become one of Netflix’s most popular and critically acclaimed original series. Spacey and Wright have each won a Golden Globe award for their performances on the show, which is based on a 1990s BBC mini-series of the same name.
