N.E.R.D. reveal first new song in four years, ‘Squeeze Me’

December 27, 2014

N.E.R.D. has unveiled their first new song in four years, called ‘Squeeze Me’.

The group, featuring Pharrell Williams, Shay Haley and Chad Hugo, have recorded the track as part of the soundtrack for the forthcoming SpongeBob SquarePants film – set for release on January 28.

The song is the first for the reunited band since their 2010 LP ‘Nothing’.

Hugo compared ‘Squeeze Me’ to The Beatles’ ‘Yellow Submarine’ – the title track of their animated film of the same name. “We’re trying not to think too much in a cartoon sense, but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldly type of thing,” Hugo said. “If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what the Beatles did with ‘Yellow Submarine’.”

N.E.R.D. formed in 2000 and has released four studio LPs since then.
