MUSE WORKING WITH ORCHESTRA IN STUDIO

December 18, 2014

Muse may have hinted at a “back to basics” approach to the music for its seventh studio album, but it seems they can’t help themselves… a new post at the band’s Instagram account features a photo of an orchestra in the studio with the caption, “Milan strings.”

Muse has worked with string sections before, so this doesn’t necessarily mean that the group is veering off from its promise late last year that the new record was “gonna get heavy.”

Frontman Matt Bellamy told Rolling Stone last December that the band might get back to simple guitar-bass-drums arrangements on its new CD after experimenting with electronics and orchestration on its last few records.

  • Muse has been working on the new effort for two-and-a-half months and is reportedly recording with legendary producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who was behind the board for landmark records like AC/DC’s Back In Black and Def Leppard’s Pyromania.
  • The new CD is expected out by mid-2015 and will follow up 2012’s The 2nd Law, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album and debuted at Number Two on the Billboard album chart.
