‘Montage Of Heck’ director: Kurt Cobain’s solo recordings out this summer
The director of Kurt Cobain documentary Montage Of Heck says there’s plans to release an album of the late Nirvana frontman’s solo recordings this summer.
Brett Morgen sifted thru over 200 hours worth of material Cobain recorded while researching his film, which was released earlier this year.
Speaking about the recordings, which included demo tapes, Beatles covers, spoken word tracks and jams with both Nirvana and Courtney Love across some 107 cassette tapes, Morgen said: “”We’re going to be putting out an amazing album this summer that I think will answer that question.” He clarified that the album “will feel like you’re kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington as he fiddles about. It’s going to really surprise people.”
The film will receive its US television premiere on HBO on May 4.
