Michael Bay will direct ‘Transformers 5’

January 5, 2016

Michael Bay has confirmed he’ll direct a fifth Transformers film.

Bay previously denied that he’d be in the director’s seat for the film, which will star Mark Wahlberg and is scheduled for release in 2017.

Speaking to Rolling Stone while promoting his new film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi however, Bay revealed that he has signed on to make another Transformers title but was adamant that it would be his last. The director says he’s keen to “pass the reins to someone else”.

Detail from the Rolling Stone story sees Bay talking to his crew about special effects work for the film, including a new dumper truck robot featuring a cloak and an alien spaceship.

The fourth movie in the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Age Of Extinction starring Mark Wahlberg, came out in 2014 and is the second film in the series to gross over $1billion worldwide. It was also nominated for seven Razzie Awards, which salute “the worst that Hollywood has to offer.”
