January 16, 2016

Michael B. Jordan has stood by Fantastic Four, the superhero flop he starred in alongside Miles Teller and Kate Mara.

Jordan (currently starring in Creed) played the Human Torch in the 2015 film that was panned by critics and made just $168m from a budget of $120m. Earlier this week the film was nominated for a handful of Razzies, including Worst Picture.

However, Jordan is not ashamed of making the film and told Digital Spy that while he has no regrets, things “outside the actor’s control” could have been a factor in the film’s lack of success.

“I stand by anything I get in front of,” he said. “But at the end of the day so many things come into place with a film that makes it successful or not, and a lot of it is outside of the actors’ control.

“For me, going to work every day, I put 110 per cent into everything I do,” he added. “So I stand by my work ethic and the performance I put in.”

Ahead of the film’s release, director Josh Trank appeared to criticise the film’s final cut, writing on Twitter: “A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would’ve received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though.” He has since deleted the tweet.
