MARIJUANA BECOMES LEGAL IN ALASKA TODAY

February 24, 2015

Recreational use of marijuana becomes legal in Alaska today (February 24th), making it the third state after Colorado and Washington to legalize the drug.

Marijuana-Legalization

Alaskans voted to make pot legal last November by a 53 percent to 47 percent margin, approving an initiative saying that recreational use would be allowed by adults in private places.

As of today, people in Alaska will be allowed to smoke, grow, possess, transport and give away marijuana.

A second phase, creating a regulated and taxed marijuana market, won’t start until 2016 at the earliest.
