Malcolm Young’s son confirms Axl Rose is joining AC/DC?
Former AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young’s son may have confirmed via Facebook that Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose is ready to fill in for AC/DC singer Brain Johnson for the rest of their world tour.
AC/DC recently had to reschedule some US tour dates after singer Johnson was advised by doctors to “stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss”. The band issued a statement on their website confirming that the remaining dates of their US tour will be “made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist”.
Rumours have suggested GN’R singer Axl Rose would take Johnson’s place, with Alternative Nation reporting that Ross Young, the son of Malcolm Young (who retired from the group in 2014 due to dementia), had posted a link to online reports to Facebook and in comments wrote: “It’s true” and “He can and he will”. He later deleted the posts.
Johnson has been AC/DC’s singer since 1980, following the death of previous singer Bon Scott.
Meanwhile, GN’R is set to reunite this summer for a series of live dates, including a headline slot at Coachella in April and a couple warm up gigs in Las Vegas. It’s rumoured they’ll be playing a small show in Hollywood too.
