KORN DRUMMER BEGS FANS TO BUY MUSIC INSTEAD OF STREAMING IT

January 9, 2015

Korn drummer Ray Luzier has a simple request for the band’s fans: please buy our music instead of streaming or stealing it.

In a new interview with a radio station in Albany, New York, Luzier said that piracy and popular streaming sites like Spotify are ripping artists off, adding, “The thing is, with the newer generation, the kids don’t really understand that it’s taking or stealing . . . It’s technology. I get it. I’m just saying, to the fans out there, if you really love your art and people you support, go buy the freaking record. How hard is it?”

Luzier recalled an incident when he was in the band Army Of Anyone and was approached by a fan to autographed a CD-R burn of their record. Luzier said, “(I’m like), ‘You stole? My record’s like $9.99. You couldn’t afford a $10 bill? We just worked four-and-a-half months.’”

  • The drummer said that he still goes to stores like Best Buy and purchases CDs, adding, “It’s all about supporting the artist.”
  • Korn will kick off a European tour with Slipknot in Dublin, Ireland on January 14th.
