One of Jared Leto’s Suicide Squad co-star / castmates said Leto showered them with unusual gifts when he missed the start of shooting.

Director David Ayer started shooting the movie in Toronto in April, but Leto wasn’t on set. But as co-star Adam Beach explains, Leto more than proved his commitment to the project, “He sent [co-star Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it – a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter.”

Continuing, Beach revealed that to underline his dedication to the project, Leto also sent the entire cast a video message accompanied by a “dead hog”. Recalling the content of Leto’s message, Beach explained: “Basically, what he said was, ‘Guys, I can’t be there but I want you to know I’m doing my work as hard as you guys’. The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realised that day, this is real.”

Leto has since joined the rest of the Suicide Squad on set in Toronto and Beach said he has been impressed by the actor’s performance as The Joker. “He encompasses this beautiful man and he shows it in, ‘Hello, how are you?,’ but in an instant, he goes to psychotic behaviour where you’re in fear,” Beach said. “But you love him because he has both of those genuine sides.”
