IS METALLICA FINALLY RECORDING ITS NEW ALBUM?
Is Metallica finally in the studio? The band has updated its official Instagram account with a photo of bassist Robert Trujillo laying down a bass track in a recording studio, which includes the caption “Rockin along . . .” The picture appears to have been taken by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, whose hand and feet are also visible in the photo.
But it’s likely that the band is perhaps just recording demos at this point.
Trujillo recently told Rock Cellar magazine that the songs were not yet in finished form. He explained, “There are a lot of ideas, a lot of song bodies; you gotta go through the process. For me personally, I’m really excited about what we’ve been able to jam out.”
Trujillo said that neither he nor any other member of Metallica is ready to confirm when the band’s 10th studio effort will arrive: “None of us could predict when that will be. All I can say is that we are working hard. It is happening. You know, in the last year we had a lot of detours, you know, whether it was shows or even like the Through The Never film, which took up a lot of our time and kind of sidetracked us from this album.”
Trujillo previously told us that the band was “having a really amazing time” working on ideas for the new disc.
Metallica’s new studio album will follow up 2008’s Death Magnetic.
