First ‘Bourne 5’ trailer to premiere during Super Bowl?

February 2, 2016

Word is the first trailer for Bourne 5 will premiere during the Super Bowl this Sunday (February 7).

Matt Damon Bourne-5

Eric Van Lustbader, the author who took over the Bourne novels from creator Robert Ludlum, broke the news on Facebook last night (Feb 1) before deleting the post.

He wrote: “BREAKING NEWS! The first trailer for the new Bourne film will be shown during this year’s Superbowl telecast. At that time I believe you’ll find out the title of the film. (I know it, but I’m sworn to secrecy). So tune in on February 7th to check out all the excitement. I, for one, can’t wait!!!”

Bourne 5 marks the return of Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne after nearly a decade away from the screen. The actor last played the secret agent in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum and sat out 2012’s Bourne Legacy, which instead starred Jeremy Renner and performed relatively poorly at the box office.

Damon recently said of Bourne 5: “Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world.”

Bourne 5 is set for release on July 29, 2016.
