Dave Growl Performing At The Oscars
Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl has been confirmed to appear at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony — and will give a “special performance”, although details are vague.
Grohl was one of a number of artists/acts announced for the event, along with Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Sam Smith and others.
It’s not clear what Grohl’s connection is with the Oscars — he didn’t write a song for any soundtracks. His “Sonic Highways” documentary wasn’t nominated. And he wasn’t involved with the Kurt Cobain documentary “Montage Of Heck”.
Maybe Dave will be involved with some sort of tribute to the artists who passed away this year — possibly David Bowie, who did a lot of film work in addition to his music.
A list of everyone set to appear at the 88th Academy Awards is available on the Oscars’ web site. Of the musicians named, only Grohl was specified as a performer.
Chris Rock will host the awards show, set to air on February 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
