Coldplay released their latest album, Ghost Stories, just seven months ago, but singer Chris Martin said that the band is already at work on its seventh album – and hinted that it could mark the end of an era for the British band.

Martin told BBC Radio One that the quartet’s seventh album will be called A Head Full Of Dreams and compared it conceptually to the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

Martin explained, “We are right in the middle of (recording) . . . It’s our seventh thing and the way we look at it it’s like the last Harry Potter book. That’s not to say there won’t be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. It was great to go from Ghost Stories right back into the studio. Now we’re making things that sound different. It’s a very fun time to be in our band.”

Martin added that Coldplay will launch a tour in support of A Head Full Of Dreams, something the band didn’t do with Ghost Stories.
