30 SECONDS TO MARS FRONTMAN TO PLAY THE JOKER
30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has signed on to play the Joker in the upcoming movie Suicide Squad.
The film, based on the DC Comics title, is about a collection of villains who are forced to become heroes. Also starring in the movie are Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as team leader Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevinge as Enchantress.
This will be Leto’s first film since he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor earlier this year for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.
Leto also keeps busy recording and touring with 30 Seconds To Mars, and said that’s why he is very selective when taking film roles, “Yeah, you know, the hardest thing really is time, just finding the time. That’s why I didn’t make a film for five or six years. It’s really — that’s the biggest battle, is time. But great problems.”
David Ayer, who wrote and directed the recent Brad Pitt World War II film Fury, will write and direct Suicide Squad. The movie is set to come out August 5th, 2016.
